BTS is officially a global stadium act, if their newly announced Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour is any indication.
Although they’re no stranger to stadiums in Japan and Korea, the North American leg of their BTS World Tour: Love Yourself took place in arenas. That is, until the septet became the first K-pop group to host their own stadium show when they played New York’s Citi Field last October.
Technically, BTS World Tour: Love Yourself isn’t even over. The last leg of their ongoing tour wraps up in Bangkok on April 7. Then they’ll kick off the Speak Yourself tour in Los Angeles on May 4.
Last month, BTS broke sales records with their second concert film, Love Yourself in Seoul. The movie captured their set at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul last year — and its initial one-day release grossed a whopping $11.7 million worldwide.
The group introduced the phrase “speak yourself” during leader RM’s speech at the United Nations last year. “I want to hear your voice,” he said. “I want to hear your conviction. No matter where you’re from, skin color, gender identity, just speak yourself. Find your name [and] find your voice.” Once their new tour begins, it’s safe to say BTS will be hearing ARMY’s voices.
